The province of Newfoundland and Labrador has legislation regarding child passenger safety.

 

It includes mandatory use of car seats and booster seats:

Choosing a Car Seat or Booster Seat 

Every year in Canada, children are being injured or killed on Canada's roads. The reality is that most of these injuries and deaths are preventable. Using car seats and booster seats saves lives. Choosing the right car seat to fit a child, installing it correctly and adjusting the harnessing can reduce the risk of injury and death by up to 70%.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, there are certified child passenger safety technicians (car seat technicians) to help parents and caregivers correctly install car seats and provide information on child passenger safety. Check with your local Family Resource Centre or Health Centre for the nearest car seat clinic.
